The Creator

Heart’s Cry Statement

Let me invent new and better ways to extend our ministry impact.

Highlights:

Who God Made You to Be

God has instilled this personality with one of his primary attributes; the ability to create new things, systems and programs. Creators are social individuals with strong verbal and multitasking skills. They love to be involved in creative problem solving and tend to gravitate to roles involving technology, custom mechanics, or organizational development. They are often entrepreneurs, venturing out where “no man has gone before.” They are also excellent systems analysts and can serve effectively as systems or organizational consultants.

The Creator strongly believes in the value of his or her innovative creations. After all, much thought has been invested into birthing the new idea. However, if others (particularly leadership) do not respond in an affirming and enthusiastic manner, the Creator may feel dejected and either work tirelessly to make the new idea more acceptable or write off non-supporters as people who “don’t get it.” Creators are “power people” and need opportunities to interact with other “power people” within the organization. They also lead teams effectively, although the team atmosphere they generate will be unstructured and highly creative…a fun and, at times, chaotic place to serve.Creators are good at so many things that they have difficulty focusing their talent and may overextend their commitments. In particular, their family relationships may be neglected when overextended in the creative process. Creators are also quick to start a project but will usually leave the finishing to others.

What You Can Contribute To the Ministry

The Creator is particularly helpful to a ministry in fields such as church planting, satellite ministries, technology integration, multimedia, multi-track service design and new ministry development.

The Creator has an instinctive awareness of “things lacking” or “potential lost” when they observe a ministry’s structures and programs. The heart cry of the Creator is likely to be: “If only.”  They can always envision a better and more effective way to accomplish any goal. It is not important that the new thing does not exist or has never existed because God has placed them on this planet to create new things for His glory and the benefit of His people.

How Leadership Can Support You

If only more ministries would value the Creator personality instead of remaining risk-avoidant, the Church could accomplish so much more for the Kingdom of Christ. In fact, statements that infer a preference for “safe ministry” will likely turn off the Creator. If your ministry lacks Creator personalities, it is likely that the attitude and atmosphere of the ministry unconsciously communicates that Creators are not welcome.  A ministry can benefit greatly from Creators, but leaders must be willing to appreciate change and help their members appreciate these values as well. Otherwise, Creators can be vilified within the ministry as being responsible for changing the church others have grown to love. If this occurs, your ministry will likely lose this valuable and rare person to another ministry.
